Christmas Capsule
Back to Work
Today is Labor Day, and in New Jersey, kids generally go back to school soon after. Being a teacher, this means the end of summer and back to work for me. This summer has been difficult for me in the health department. Nothing life threatening, but I was diagnosed with adenomyosis. I never heard of it before I saw it written on the test report. I don’t want to spend a lot of time here talking about it, other than to say that because of it, I gained weight over the summer. Ugh.
So now that school is starting up again, I am getting back to working out. My favorite is the 21 Day Fix. I used to be a Beachbody Coach, until I realized that “coaching” really wasn’t for me. However, I LOVE the Beachbody workouts and I remain a Beachbody member. (Google it, if you don’t know what it is.) I am starting the 21 Day Fix again tomorrow, and am going back to work tomorrow. Getting healthy seems to go hand in hand with the routine of going back to work.
I also joined a DietBet. Autumn Calabrese (the 21Day Fix girl) is running a fall DietBet, so I hope it goes well. The goal is to lose 4% of your body weight, which sounds very doable. HOWEVER, for me that translates to about 7.5 pounds in 4 weeks. I have never been able to lose more than a pound a week. I am going to have to get serious. The last time I got serious about working out I actually lost about 12 pounds and was in great shape. I just need to stay motivated! (The photos here are from last time).
A Few of my Favorites
It’s kind of a quiet day for me, just a few errands and then driving to the shore (yes the Jersey Shore, no not like the TV show). Perfect day to wear some of my favorite clothes. I really love my leggings. They are literally the most comfortable pants I have ever worn. My daughters gave them to me for Christmas this past year and I wear them whenever I have a chance, and I also went out and bought myself another pair because they are THAT comfortable. The next one is a BP twist front tee that I got at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. I love this one because it’s a tee with some style. The twist front is right on point and it’s long enough to cover in back. Win, win. My shoes are retro Steve Madden Wedge slides. I loved these in the 90’s and I love them now. When they brought them back I had to get them! It may not be the most fabulous outfit, but I am so comfortable and still have a bit of fashion going on.
Here are the links for everything (and no one pays me for this–just things I like)
Pumpkin Spice is back!
I really do enjoy my Pumpkin Spice. When it starts hitting the shelves, though it makes me a bit sad because summer is coming to and end. My daughters are grown, but being a teacher, I still have to go back to school every fall. It’s sad, but fun at the same time. I love my summer. I also love back to school and I love my Pumpkin Spice!
There are new Pumpkin Spice products every year, but my absolute favorite are the Pumpkin Spice K-cups. I bought the creamer a week ago and have been using it but I really don’t get any of that spice flavor from it. More like regular creamer. I also bought the Pumpkin Spice Milanos and Siggi’s Yogurt. The Milanos are amazing! I am going to have to stock up on them. The yogurt is yummy and I will be stocking up on that as well. I like Siggi’s because it’s lower in sugar than other greek yogurts.
The Bare Apple Chips are labeled “Pie Spice” so I think they will be more like apple pie. I am saving those for my snacks at work. One thing that my daughter has me scouting for is the Halo Top Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream. It’s been eluding me so far.
It’s hard not to go overboard with this, but if I can find my K-cups, I will be happy with coffee, yogurt and cookies!
Streamlining the Closet
I have two situations working against each other. First, I have way too many clothes. I know, I know, my fault, but I am trying to simplify. Second, my closet is far too small. Take your standard door and that is how wide and deep it is. My closet was stressing me out.
So last week I took these issues on and started working on getting rid of clothes that I never wear or that don’t make me happy. I made two exit piles. One pile went in a bag to be donated, I am working on selling the other clothes in Facebook groups.
As I was assessing my clothes, I made sure that each item that went back into the closet worked with most of the other items. Since we are at the end of summer, I also removed most of my warm weather and vacation clothes as well as winter clothes. In essence, I created a fall wardrobe capsule of about 60 pieces, not including accessories and shoes.
The last thing I did was to buy these hangers. They literally made all the difference in the world. My clothes hang better and I have more space in my closet. I still have my dresser to go through and my second closet (in another room) with all of my summer and winter clothes in it. But for the start of school next week (I’m a teacher), I will at least have peace of mind about my clothes!
